Privacy & Security

How is my data stored?

Your data is stored securely in MongoDB Atlas in Stockholm, Sweden (AWS eu-north-1 region). This means your data never leaves the European Union for storage purposes.

Security measures:

Who can see my journal entries?

Only you. Your journal entries and chat conversations are completely private. We do not:

  • Share your content with other users
  • Display your content publicly
  • Use your content for marketing
  • Sell your content to third parties

The only exception is when you chat with the AI coach - your messages are sent to Anthropic Claude to generate responses, but Anthropic does NOT store or train on your data.

Do you sell my data?

Absolutely not. We will never sell your personal information or journal entries to anyone. This is a core principle of StoryPlan.

Our business model is based on subscription revenue, not data monetization. Your trust is more valuable than any data sale.

What happens when I delete my account?

When you delete your account:

  1. Immediate: Your account is deactivated and your email is anonymized
  2. 30-day grace period: You can recover your account if you change your mind
  3. After 30 days: All your data is permanently deleted:
    • Journal entries
    • Chat conversations
    • Plans and progress
    • Profile information

Audit trail: We keep anonymized token usage and credit transaction records for financial compliance, but these cannot be linked back to you.

Can I export my data?

Yes! You have the right to export all your data at any time. This is required by GDPR.

Your export includes:

  • Profile information
  • All journal entries (with full version history)
  • All chat conversations and messages
  • Plans and progress tracking
  • Credit transaction history
  • Authentication events

Format: JSON (machine-readable, easy to process)

Where are your servers located?

  • Primary data storage: Stockholm, Sweden (EU)
  • AI processing: United States (Anthropic)
  • Analytics: EU region (PostHog)
  • Authentication: EU region (Logto)

Your core data never leaves the EU for storage. AI processing happens in the US under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for GDPR compliance.

How do you use AI? Will my data train AI models?

We use Anthropic Claude (Claude Haiku 4.5) to power the AI coaching conversations.

Important: Anthropic has a strict policy that customer data is NOT used to train AI models. Your conversations remain confidential and are only used to provide you with personalized responses.

Your journal entries and chat messages are:

  • Sent to Anthropic for real-time processing
  • Used ONLY to generate coaching responses
  • NOT stored by Anthropic long-term
  • NOT used for model training
  • Protected by enterprise-grade security

What analytics do you collect?

We use PostHog (EU region) for privacy-safe analytics to improve the service.

What we track:

  • Page visits and navigation
  • Feature usage (which tools you use)
  • Error reports (to fix bugs)
  • Performance metrics

What we DON'T track:

  • āŒ Your journal content
  • āŒ Your chat messages
  • āŒ Passwords or sensitive inputs
  • āŒ Personal identifying information in session replays

Privacy mode enabled:

  • All inputs are masked in session replays
  • Sensitive API requests are blocked
  • Console logs are not captured

You can opt-out of analytics in your browser settings.

Is StoryPlan GDPR compliant?

Yes. StoryPlan is built to comply with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) requirements:

Account & Authentication

How do I sign up?

StoryPlan uses password-free authentication via Logto.

You don't need to create a separate password - a code is sent to your e-mail address whenever you need to log in.

Can I change my email address?

Currently this is not possible from the StoryPlan app - please contact our support e-mail and we will do our best to help you!

How do I delete my account?

  1. Go to your Account Settings
  2. Scroll to the "Danger Zone" section
  3. Click "Delete Account"
  4. Confirm by typing your email address
  5. Your account will be scheduled for deletion

Remember: You have 30 days to recover your account before permanent deletion.

What happens to my credit balance if I delete my account?

Your credit balance is forfeited when you delete your account. Credits are non-refundable and cannot be transferred.

If you plan to return, consider pausing your account instead (keep your data, stop using credits).

How does the AI coaching work?

The AI coach (powered by Anthropic Claude) acts as a creative partner to help you:

  • Explore your story and experiences
  • Identify themes and patterns
  • Clarify your message
  • Develop communication strategies

The coach remembers your previous conversations and refers to your journal entries to provide personalized guidance.

Important: The AI is a creative tool, not a therapist or professional advisor. Use it for reflection and planning, not medical or legal advice.

Can I use StoryPlan for my team?

Currently, StoryPlan is designed for individual use. Each account is personal and private.

Is there a mobile app?

StoryPlan is currently a web application, optimized for desktop and mobile browsers. You can access it from any device with a web browser.

No native mobile app yet, but it's on our roadmap!

Billing & Credits

How does the credit system work?

StoryPlan uses a credit-based system for AI usage:

  • Each AI chat message consumes credits based on the LLM model used
  • Credits are deducted automatically from your balance
  • You receive 100 free credits on sign-up
  • You can purchase additional credits as needed

Transparent pricing: You can see your credit balance and usage history in your account page.

What if I run out of credits?

If your credit balance reaches zero:

  • You can still access your journal and plans
  • You cannot send new messages to the AI coach
  • You can purchase more credits to continue

No surprise charges: We never charge you without explicit action.

Can I get a refund?

Credits are non-refundable once purchased. However, if you experience technical issues or believe you were charged in error, contact support@nitwit.se and we'll review your case.

How do I see my usage history?

Go to your Account Page to see:

  • Current credit balance
  • Credit consumption history (daily, weekly, monthly)
  • Credit transactions (purchases and usage)
  • Token usage by plan and step

Technical Support

The AI coach isn't responding. What should I do?

Try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check your credit balance - You may be out of credits
  2. Refresh the page - Sometimes a simple refresh helps
  3. Check your internet connection - Ensure you're online
  4. Try a different browser - Some browser extensions can interfere
  5. Contact support - If the issue persists, email support@nitwit.se

Can I recover a deleted journal entry?

Journal version history: StoryPlan keeps a full version history of your journal, so you can recover previous versions:

  • Go to your journal
  • Click "Version History"
  • Select the version you want to restore

Deleted account: If you've deleted your account, you have 30 days to recover it. After that, all data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

How do I report a bug?

Found a bug? We appreciate your help!

Email us at support@nitwit.se with:

  • Description of the issue
  • Steps to reproduce
  • Screenshots (if applicable)
  • Browser and device information

We'll investigate and keep you updated on the fix.

Legal & Compliance

Who owns the content I create?

You do. You retain full ownership of all content you create in StoryPlan, including:

  • Journal entries
  • Chat conversations
  • Plans and reflections

We only have a limited license to store and process your content to provide the service. We never claim ownership of your creative work.

Can I use AI-generated content commercially?

Yes, you own the output. However, remember that AI-generated content is:

  • Not guaranteed to be original or unique
  • May require fact-checking and editing
  • Should not be relied upon as professional advice

Review and verify all AI-generated content before using it commercially.

What happens if StoryPlan shuts down?

If we ever decide to discontinue StoryPlan, we will:

  • Give you at least 90 days notice
  • Allow you to export all your data
  • Keep servers running during the notice period

Your data will always be exportable, and you'll have ample time to save it.
